Finding and Fixing the Air Leaks (Rutland)

NeighborWorks of Western Vermont, 110 Marble Street, West Rutland

Instructor: Dave Keefe

This 6-hr workshop is designed for hands-on energy retrofitters who want a better understanding of air flow through houses and how to control it. We will start with general principles of air movement, moisture, and ventilation. We will cover how a blower door test is conducted and what the numbers mean. Worst-case depressurization testing will be explained. There will be an introduction to using zonal pressure measurements to get more information about flow between zones. We will look at photos of common air leaks and discuss materials and methods for sealing them.

Additional Information

The class is primarily intended for those who may already be doing air sealing but have not received formal instruction on this topic. We will spend the first half of the workshop in the classroom and the second half using the tools and doing the diagnostics.
