Fall/Winter 2018 Program Updates

Find out about some changes to the Efficiency Vermont rebates and offerings (as of June 30th)

VFDA rebate for oil tank replacements:

Vermont’s Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) regulations provide spill prevention and inspection requirements for both tank owners and fuel suppliers. Visit the Vermont Fuel Dealers Association website for the requirements of the law, how their $250 rebate program works, and a list of qualified installers.

SmartLight program update

Our continued partnership over the years has helped to decrease the cost of ENERGY STAR® certified LEDs, while improving quality. For the past two years in particular, sales of ENERGY STAR certified screw-based LEDs and fixtures have been very strong. This is great news – high adoption of screw-based LEDs indicates that they are becoming the preferred choice among consumers. And it signals a need to adjust our financial support for some products. Efficiency Vermont will reduce Smartlight incentives on ENERGY STAR certified screw-based bulbs and fixtures effective 10/1/18. Please see the below table outlining the current and new 10/1 incentives. There are not any changes to DLC certified products, including the commercial or agricultural lighting rebate forms.

This shift in incentives not only aligns with the direction of the market, but allows us to focus resources on newer technologies and service delivery mechanisms that require deeper initial investment to gain market traction. As the lighting market rapidly evolves, we will continue to apply our resources – rate payer dollars – to their highest and best use. This may include shifting some products off the commercial lighting rebate form and into the Smartlight program in 2019, or other changes. As always, we are grateful to our supply chain partners for sharing their observations and suggestions to best meet the needs of our shared customers.
